West Success At Masters World Cup
Congratulations to West representatives Rod Naughalty, Dave Webb (GK), Jim Felix (GK), Mike Wingent and Graham Skinner(Head Coach) who won gold at the Masters World Cup.
England Men's O65s took gold after a thrilling final with Netherlands. England led 2-1 for much of the game thanks to goals from Billy Jawanda and Rod Naughalty but Netherlands equalised at the death. However the team shook off this disappointment to win the shootout with only one goal getting past keeper Dave Webb.
The England Women's O70s getting a silver with Debbie Gorrod, Gill Robbins, Jill Hansford, Angie Warnes, Lorna Dymock and Jo Stevenson being part of that squad.
The England Women's O65s winning the Gold with Sally Privett, Cath Coombs and Miranda McTaggart being part of that squad.
The England Women's O60s beating a strong Scotland side to win gold in their final with Sarah Mainprise-Tait, Linda Webb, Di Williams, Elaine Basterfield being part of that squad.
The England Women's O55s beating a strong Irish team 1-0 with Paula Clough from the West.
It was Bronze for England Women's O45s with Kelly Yeates and Sara Similien bringing home medals.
A mention for Taunton Vale with 6 of their players not only representing the West but also England Women's squads at different ages groups.
